The big story...! | ||
In the news this week |
A glimmer of hope has emerged for Edmonton families as the province-wide teacher strike enters its second week.
The Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) and the Teachers' Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) are set to resume negotiations on Tuesday, October 14.
This marks the first formal discussion since 51,000 educators walked off the job, closing schools across the city and province.
The strike, which began October 6, stems from deep disagreements over classroom conditions.
Teachers are fighting for smaller class sizes, more support for students with complex needs, and wages that keep pace with inflation.
A previous government offer was overwhelmingly rejected by union members.
For local parents with children in Edmonton Public and Catholic schools, the disruption has been significant, forcing many to scramble for childcare.
As the city awaits the outcome of Tuesday’s mediated talks, everyone is hoping for a resolution that gets students back to their desks. Read More... |
